We're now in 2018

Quite frankly it has been years since i wrote on this blog. I gave up on freelancing life on its 5th year as we needed more income to sustain our growing family. At this point, we still have two kids, Morgan now 10 and Dylan at 6. Both are now enrolled in better schools, which i know would highly benefit them as it is the only thing i can give them that no one can take away from them. Married for six years now, i am still a bit dazed  on how far we've gone. Our relationship itself had lasted 12 years, who would've thought a couple of crazy brats with passion for rock and roll would still be together. Oh i look forward to more years until i can rock no more.

Life at 28 is surely no breeze. We have to be adults now, thinking not only for ourselves but also for the children. As we brace ourselves for a better tomorrow, i wish to settle down with a laptop and write until my mind gives up on me.

Yours truly,

Angie

Brain Cells Massacre Day Three

Posted by heiress kamote at 12:44 PM 0 comments
Last night, as i was casually browsing my smartphone, an email was sent to me. It was from my client, informing me that it is all systems go to continue the article until it reached 4 thousand and something words. It was a sign of relief and at the same time a sign for terror. I have 14 days to finish the editing and all the ugly       shit that comes with it. Thank God for Dropbox. I am so in love with it, that every PC/laptop and my smartphone has my account linked to it. I can do my articles virtually anywhere! The joys of having a smartphone indeed. (credits to husby) For now, i must rest my braincells. They did me a huge favor today!

Until tomorrow then!

Tippies for the newbies

Today marks my second day of "trial" mode. I have to submit my draft tomorrow. Shit is just hectic. Much like work in the office, i need to meet deadlines. I got invited for another interview, i hope i pass it too. The job just seems amazing to begin with. I am just thrilled to make this shindig work, it is not everyday you get an opportunity like this. I got reasons up my sleeve and i'll try and make you try Odesk too.

BPO companies often just kill you with the shifting schedules, cig breaks and coffee breaks but the environment will eventually take its toll on you. Big companies, oh how tempting their offers could be! Earing 20k a month is not that bad! Question is, how long are you willing to work like that? Honestly speaking, i don't see myself in my 40s still working my ass off in that place. 3 years ago, i started working at Eastwood. I left my eldest, 2 year old at that time, at home with my nanny (she took care of me as a child too). It seems that i was giving more time to sleeping in order to recover from the hectic world i work in at night. After a few months, i gave up. Took a few months  get my eggs together and i applied for a company my friends referred. It was all good. Until i started to grew tired of the same old bat shit everyday. Too many issues arose from being unfaithful to work gossip. They were just too hot to handle. I have to move out..PRONTO! A few months later, a blessing came..in my womb.

Are you a parent? Always in front of the computer? Do you want to spend more time with your family and less on wasting money on transportation fees and lunch/ cigs?

Here are steps on how to make it before you break it!

Earn a skill, just google it!
Want to learn how to use Photoshop? You have the power in your hands! Use it wisely! There are tons of tutorials around the world wide web.. it's your playground! I learned how to use Excel using online tutorials.

Read Read Read
There are millions of blogs about any specific topic on your mind! People often share their experiences (like me) on their blogs. Honestly, reading actually landed me on working with oDesk.

Frustrated Writer? Blog yourself to death!
As a child, i loved making up stories. As i grew up, i love making songs. As a mom, i love creating stories for my kids. Blogging is an outlet for budding writers such as yours truly. If you have an idea, always write it down!

Verify
There are sites that are fraudulent. Work at home sites are one of them. Do not trust everything you see. Always practice researching about a site before transacting with them or sharing personal information.
Try Odesk if you want short term contracts. Use the skills you know and get paid.

Be Professional
In cover letters sent, replies to clients and the like must be in a good manner! Once hired, reputation is everything. If you always do shit with work, then clients won't take you seriously either. Less job opportunities, less money for you.

Trust me, if you do good things to others, good things will always come back to you. Be mindful of your actions and be a civilized netizen!

Till next time!

My first contract

Posted by heiress kamote at 12:09 AM 0 comments
It sounds scary because its a make it or break it moment for me.

As of today, I finally have a contract with this client who invited me for an interview. I was surprised at first because i did not apply for the job. I actually have 2nd thoughts about it, due to the fact that the offer is low. I asked my husband and my mom for advice before deciding to go with it. I want experience and i have passion for writing. Wala namang mawawala kung susubukan ko (I will not loose anything if i try). Just a while ago, i found out that i was hired for the job. I am a little bit scared because there are a lot of rules that i must abide with. Nonetheless, i will give my everything for this shindig. I just hope they will like what i will be writing. I am used to writing articles for myself but this is the first time i'll be doing it to get paid. I just hope i meet the deadline so i can have a taste of some money.

See you on the greener side then!

What lead me to this shindig

Posted by heiress kamote at 1:27 AM 0 comments
Working from home, so tempting that i just have to try it for myself .

I began my quest by reading blogs about call centers and i stumbled upon one blog that basically told the story of her experience in working for a home based call center. I then checked the company's profile and found out that i need to invest in this biz (up to date computers, gadgets and the like..YIKES!)before i can earn money. This pretty much, turned down my eagerness to work from home.

That is until i found out about Odesk. I was skeptic to try at first, i told myself "If they ask money for registration fee or background fees, i am so out". Fortunately for me, it was free and i managed to make my profile appealing. I still don't have any interviews but i managed to apply for positions i know i could do. I will be blogging what happens when i get my 1st contract. (I will be mum about who the client is and the work itself) Until then, i will be taking more of those skills test they offer and apply to those job postings. I suggest, if you are a mom like me but you want to be around for your kids, consider this kind of job. The pay may not be as high as your call center salary but the mere fact that you get the option of being there with the kids is already considered a bonus.

Crossing my fingers for the 1st hand experience on Odesk.
